About CEB (formally known as SHL)

CEB (as it has been formally known SHL) is a psychometric test developer based in the UK that provides online psychometric testing services worldwide. They are one of the first companies to offer psychometric tests across Australia. 

CEB-SHL’s Cognitive and Aptitude Tests

CEB-SHL’s aptitude or ability tests (also known as “Verify Tests”) include a wide variety of tests that measure a number of intelligence facets. All Verify Tests are timed. The more popular aptitude tests are:

Verify Diagrammatic Reasoning test – this test measures your conceptual reasoning skills. The test includes non-verbal scenarios. Each scenario includes a group of shapes with some logical rules which you need to identify in order to find the next shape or the odd one out.

Verify Inductive Reasoning test – this test measures your logical thinking skills (inductive and deductive thinking). Test questions include statements which you need to decide whether they prove, support or disprove a basic statement.

Verify Verbal Reasoning test – this test measures your verbal reasoning skills. Test questions include paragraphs and then statements relating to the paragraphs. Your task is to decide whether each statement is true, false or can’t say given the information in the paragraph

Verify Numerical Reasoning test – this test measures your numerical reasoning skills. The test doesn’t measure your skills in maths but your ability to quickly and logically process numerical information. Test questions include interpretations of numerical data displayed as graphs and tables.

Verify Mechanical Reasoning test – this test measures your mechanical reasoning skills. Test questions are based on mechanical scenarios which include pulleys, gears, gravity and other mechanical principles.

Verify Spatial Reasoning test – this test measures your ability to visually rotate shapes. Test questions include unfolding of boxes, rotation of shapes etc.

CEB-SHL’s OPQ Personality Test

CEB-SHL’s most familiar personality test is called the OPQ-32. The test measures 32 personality traits.

OPQ32-n (Normative)

The normative version of the OPQ requires an individual to respond to behavioural statements on a scale of 1 to 5 reflecting the extent of their agreement or disagreement. For example, “My daily life is full of things that keep me interested”.

OPQ32-i (Ipsative)

This version of the OPQ includes 104 quads (as questions). Each quad contains 4 statements from which an individual is required to choose two. One that is most like them and one that is least like them. The ipsative aspect of this personality test uses a forced choice format in that individuals have to choose two statements from a quad of equally attractive statements.

• I enjoy meeting people
• I respect and open to others’ opinions

All CEB-SHL’s OPQ personality tests are untimed.
